At Seven Stars We Are
Kyle Barrett discovered yoga in a tiny bedroom in Vancouver, BC in 2009, when his friend and mentor Danielle Hoogenboom handed him a little book of yoga to explore his broken body. Four years later, Kyle arrived to his first yin yoga class in San Francisco, with the hope to quiet a turbulent mind. He's learned to trust the subtle potency of this quiet practice and the power breath has to shepherd us through the temporary nature of our emotions. When we surrender to our tension and our breath we witness our emotions flow and our body evolve as our soft tissues release. We open up. We let go of old stories we carry with us. Our truths become clearer. We are kinder to ourselves. We become receptive to love. The inner love we foster seeps into our community when we leave our mat: we live a our yoga—with a power to affect community and global change.
Kyle trained at the Kripalu School of Yoga and Ayurveda (2014) and at the Love Light Yin Yoga School (2015). He is an advocate for local organic agriculture and Earth justice. He writes for Love Light Yoga Inc., has blogged for Cedar Circle Farm in East Thetford, where he works, and he also writes prose and poetry. Kyle has re-adapted to high latitude winters in Vermont with help from friends on snowshoes, and he continues to spend warm days hunting for swimming holes and those nights storytelling and camping with friends in the wilderness.
