Friday June 30th, 7:00 to 8:00 pm
The Sterling String Quartet has been performing in the Upper Valley since 2007. In addition to our classical music chops we also enjoy playing Gershwin, Ellington, Jerome Kern, Harold Arlen and other composers of the big band era, but with a string quartet twist. Think potted palms, tea dances and elegant interpretations. Nothing raucous. Leave the stress of today and step back into music of the '30s, '40s, and '50s when life was a little slower. Our one 18th century equivalent to 'stepping out' is Boccherini's La Musica Notturna di Madrid, a passacalle originally played by the estudiantinas of Barcelona strumming rondallas, dressed in their academic robes, serenading while walking down the street - a passable translation of 'Passacalle". Anyone who has been to Spain more than 40 years ago will remember them."
