Best known for his composition, "Ashokan Farewell," the Grammy-winning and Emmy-nominated theme song of Ken Burns' PBS documentary series, The Civil War, Jay Ungar has performed and recorded with mid-'60s rock band, Cat Mother & the All Night Newsboys, the Putnam String County Band, Fiddle Fever, the David Bromberg Band, and in duos with his wife, Molly Mason, and his ex-wife, Lyn Hardy. The founder of the Fiddle & Dance Workshop at Ashokan, a Catskill Mountain camp, in 1980, Ungar has spearheaded the revival in traditional string band music and dance.
In addition to his work on the soundtrack of Ken Burns' Civil War, Ungar has composed and performed on the soundtracks of Burns' documentaries including Baseball, The West, Thomas Jefferson, and Lewis & Clark. Ungar's fiddling was also heard on the soundtracks of films Brother's Keeper and Legends of the Fall. Ungar and Mason have made numerous appearances on Garrison Keillor's National Public Radio show, A Prairie Home Companion. In 1992, Ungar and Mason accompanied vocalist Thomas Hampson on an album-length tribute to the songs of Stephen Foster, American Dreamer. Harvest Home: Music for All Seasons followed in 1999. |
Seoyeon Im was born in South Korea and she began her musical studies as a Classical Violinist, starting at 7 years old. And She studied Classical music at SungShin Woman's University in South Korea.
After Graduation, Seoyeon started to play Jazz and decided to go America for studying music as Student of Berklee College of music. Seoyeon got Half Tuition Scholarship from Berklee College of Music. Now, She is studying Master of jazz Music at Queens College in New York. Seoyeon has performed at Berklee Performance Center(Boston), Club Passim (Boston), Seoul Art Center(Korea), Sowol Art Center (Seoul) , Chugmu Art Hall(Seoul), Lefrak Concert Hall (New York) ,Bar Chord(NewYork), Diese Onze(Montreal).Seoyeon used to play with Cuban music group "DieVano" in Boston. She plays Gypsy Jazz music with franglais in New York. Seoyeon has her own 38K Youtube Channel called "V.OLIN". One of the youngest violin professors at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Anick is considered “a rising star in the world of jazz violin and mandolin” (Downbeat Magazine). In addition to leading various groups under his own name and performing with the Rhythm Future Quartet, Anick has been touring and recording with Grammy award-winning Nashville guitar virtuoso John Jorgenson since 2008 when he was recruited while still a senior at the Hartt Conservatory.
A versatile musician and sought after side-man, Anick has also shared the stage with an array of artists like Stevie Wonder, Tommy Emmanuel, Hamilton de Holanda, The Jim Kweskin Jug Band, John Sebastian, Delta Rae, and Ward Hayden and the Outliers. With performances all over the world from China, Europe, and Japan and renowned venues like the Montreal Jazz Festival, Blue Note, Smalls Jazz Club, Scullers Jazz Club, Yoshi's, Iridium, TD Garden, Regattabar, NPR, and The Late Night Show, Jason has proven himself to be a leader in the ever-growing contemporary string world. www.jasonanick.com |
